<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: February 8, 2021 <br /> Item No.: 9.b <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description: Approval of 2 Temporary Gambling Licenses <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 Chapter 301 of the City Code requires all applications for business and other licenses to be submitted to the City Council <br />3 for approval. The following applications are submitted for consideration: <br />4 <br />5 Temporary Gambling Licenses <br />6 Forest Lake Ducks Unlimited <br />7 Forest Lake Ducks Unlimited has applied for Exemption from Lawful Gambling Licensing Requirements to <br />8 conduct lawful gambling activities as follows: <br />9 Bingo and Raffle Drawing February 27, 2021at Grumpy’s & Rose Vine Hall , located at 2801 <br />10 Snelling Avenue <br />11 <br />12 BATC Foundation dba Housing First Minnesota Foundation <br />13 Housing First Minnesota Foundation has applied for Exemption from Lawful Gambling Licensing <br />14 Requirements to conduct lawful gambling activities as follows: <br />15 Raffle Drawing August 7, 2021 at Housing First Minnesotan, located at 2960 Centre Pointe Drive <br />16 <br />17 The Minnesota Charitable Gambling Regulations allow any nonprofit organization, which conducts lawful <br />18 gambling for less than five (5) days per year, and total prizes do not exceed $50,000.00 in value, to be <br />19 exempt from the licensing requirements if the city approves. <br />20 <br />21 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />22 Required by City Code <br />23 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />24 The correct fees were paid to the City at the time the application(s) were made. <br />25 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />26 Staff has reviewed the application(s) and has determined that the applicant(s) meet all City requirements.
