Attachment B <br />1 EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />2 OF THE <br />3 CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />4 <br />5 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br />6 <br />7 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />th <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 8 <br />8 day of February, 2021, at 6:00 <br />9 p.m. <br />10 <br />11 The following members were present: Etten,Groff, Strahan, Willmus, and Mayor Roe. <br />12 and the following were absent: <br />13 <br />14 Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />15 <br />16 RESOLUTION No. XXXXXX <br />17 <br />18 Resolution supporting an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution to <br />19 provide equal protection under the law regardless of gender <br />20 <br />21 W HEREAS, theCity of Roseville supports equal rights for the citizens of Roseville; and women <br />22 constitute approximately 52 percent of the citizenry; and <br />23 <br />24 W HEREAS, women play a critical role in families, the workplace, and in society as a whole, <br />25 contributing to our economy and advancing our nation; and <br />26 <br />27 W HEREAS, women continue to confronta lack of political parity, workplace discrimination, <br />28 health care inequities, disparate rates of poverty, sexual assault and domestic violence; and <br />29 <br />30W HEREAS,theMinnesotaConstitutiondoesnotexplicitlyguaranteethatallrightsthatitprotects <br />31 are held equally by all citizens without regard to gender; and <br />32 <br />33 HEREAS, theEqual Rights Amendmentisrequired in order to provide gender-based equality in <br />W <br />34 our courts and laws because the Supreme Court has repeatedly held thatthe14th Amendment <br />35 does not apply specifically to issues of gender; and <br />36 <br />37 W HEREAS, although laws prohibitinggender discrimination exist, they can be repealed or <br />38 reduced by a simple majority in the legislature; and <br />39 <br />40 W HEREAS, anEqualRights Amendmentwould helpcorrectsystemic gender discrimination; and <br />41 <br />42 W HEREAS, Minnesotarequested that Congress propose an Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in <br />43 April of 1949and then ratified the federalERA in February of 1973 – yet still does not have sex <br />44 or gender equality guaranteed in its own state constitution; and <br />45 <br /> <br />
