REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: February 22, 2021 <br /> Item No.: 7.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description: Public Hearing to Approve/Deny an On-Sale and Sunday Intoxicating Liquor <br />License for Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce located at 2851 Snelling Ave <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />BACKGROUND 1 <br />The Council approved a Non Intoxicating license for Pizza Luce on December 7, 2020. Pizza Luce would like 2 <br />to apply for an On Sale license. Under City Code, a public hearing is required when considering approval of a 3 <br />liquor license. The City has received applications for 2021 Liquor License as follows: 4 <br /> 5 <br /> Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce – On-Sale and Sunday Intoxicating Liquor License 6 <br /> Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce – 2:00 a.m. Liquor License 7 <br /> 8 <br />Neither State Statute nor City Code limits the number of licenses that can be issued for On-Sale and Sunday 9 <br />Intoxicating Liquor licenses. 10 <br /> 11 <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE 12 <br />The regulation of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages has been a long-standing practice by the State and 13 <br />the City. 14 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS 15 <br />The revenue that is generated from the license fees is used to offset the cost of police compliance checks, 16 <br />background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. 17 <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION 18 <br />The applicant meets all requirements set forth under City Code.
