REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: February 22, 2021 <br /> Item No.: 7.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br />Item Description:Public Hearing to Approve/Denyan On-Sale and Sunday Intoxicating Liquor <br />License for Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce located at 2851 Snelling Ave <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 The Council approved a Non Intoxicating license for Pizza Luce on December 7, 2020. Pizza Luce would like <br />3 to apply for an On Sale license. Under City Code, a public hearing is required when considering approval of a <br />4 liquor license. The City has received applications for 2021 Liquor License as follows: <br />5 <br />6 Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce– On-Sale and Sunday Intoxicating Liquor License <br />7 Pizza Luce VIII, Inc. dba Pizza Luce– 2:00 a.m. Liquor License <br />8 <br />9 Neither State Statute nor City Code limits the number of licenses that can be issued for On-Sale and Sunday <br />10 Intoxicating Liquor licenses. <br />11 <br />12 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />13 The regulation of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages has been a long-standing practice by the State and <br />14 the City. <br />15 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />16 The revenue that is generated from the license fees is used to offset the cost of police compliance checks, <br />17 background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. <br />18 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />19 The applicant meets all requirements set forth under City Code.
