OUR VALUE STATEMENTS <br />Diversity and Representation. The neighborhood’s cultural diversity is its greatest strength. The <br />Alliance will be an organization of leaders representative of our diverse community. <br />Non-Displacement. The Alliance’s efforts will be aimed at improving conditions for existing <br /> <br />Strengths-Based Approach. Rice & Larpenteur has many positive qualities and assets. All <br />efforts by the Alliance will build upon and celebrate neighborhood strengths. <br />2020 HIGHLIGHTS <br />• Launched Community-Based Advisory Board with 50 members representing neighborhood residents, <br />• Created Business Improvement Grant Program to support Rice & Larpenteur <br />businesses with facade, signage, landscaping, public art, and outdoor seating projects. <br />• Connected local businesses and residents with COVID-19 relief programs. <br />• Distributed Stay-At-Home Kits to local families with school and art supplies, <br />household goods, groceries, and more. <br />• Hosted the Rice & LarpenTOUR outdoor community event with activities throughout <br />• Created four new public art installations and adopted a Public Art Implementation <br />Plan. <br />• <br />Signage Plan. <br />• Installed public garbage and recycling bins and worked with local <br />businesses to maintain the bins and reduce litter.* <br />• Celebrated newly rebuilt Larpenteur Avenue including lane reduction, <br />pedestrian refuge islands, bump outs, crossing beacon, crosswalks, sidewalk, and bicycle lanes. <br />• Celebrated the addition of new sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, crossing improvements, and tree plantings, <br />as part of Saint Paul’s Safe Routes to School program around Washington Technology Magnet. <br />• Hosted a Gift N’ Go event to celebrate the holiday season and distribute $500 worth of Cub Foods Gift <br />Cards, Masks, Hand Sanitizer, and other goodies. <br />• Published a Rice & Larpenteur Shopping Guide to promote and support local businesses during this <br />challenging time. <br />• Welcomed two new family-owned restaurants to the neighborhood. <br />• Successfully advocated for increased busing service along Rice Street and for the prioritization of the <br />Rice-Robert Bus Rapid Transit line. <br />*Thank you to Adopt-A-Bin partners: AE Sign Systems, Allie Chiropractic Clinic, Groceries and Nepali Kitchen, <br />Hamernick’s Interior Solutions, McCarrons Lake Chiropractic, McCarrons Pub and Grill, MyThrift Store/DNK Management, <br />Noble Tobacco, Saint Paul Regional Water Services, Wilebski’s Blues Saloon <br /> <br />
