Based on what I heard tonight, Roseville feels that is out of their jurisdiction. Perhaps the
RCA Attachment D
lake access is officially covered by DNR, but the city should still maintain an interest in
preserving the values of the lake for its residents. I would hope that Roseville would remain
involved and work together with DNR to provide a forum for community involvement, as well
as weigh in on what would and would not be desired. Please engage the McCarrons
Lakefront Alliance (https://www.mccarronslakefront.org/) and again the neighborhood
(more broadly to include all the residents with lake shore) if there is to be any future
discussion of the lakeside development (whether by Roseville, DNR, or the Watershed
District).
A couple of questions arose for me tonight. 1) Can you explain about 'exempt' trees? I see
that sometimes it is where the tree is located (e.g., underneath where the road will go);
why should those not be replaced? Also I also see a note about cottonwoods and boxelders;
are those also never to be replaced? I understand that these might not be the species
selected to replace, but they still should be replaced! 2) Why is Public Utilities not in favor
of using lighted signs at the crossing of South McCarrons to the park? I frequently cross
McCarrons at Gaultier with my kids, and we encounter some very fast traffic. I share
concerns with others about the turn and gradient in the road making it hard to see. I hope
that extra care is taken to siting the trail and its crossing with these things in mind.
Thank you for your work on the project, for hearing my concerns, and for helping answer my
questions.
Alison Cariveau
Page 16 of 51
