I want to serve on this Commission to become <br />engaged in my community and to work on engagement, inclusion and human rights within the City. I <br />recently retired from the University of Missouri Extension, where I worked in Community Development. <br />One of my areas of focus was in communities with new immigrant populations. I would like to continue <br />to work on engaging diverse and increasing the capacity of diverse groups in Roseville. While at MU, I <br />also worked internally as a trainer on diversity, equity and inclusion. Those skills and tools I used can <br />easily be leveraged in this Commission. <br />What is your view of the role of this Commission? I see the role of the HRIEC as engaging with diverse <br />populations--including age, gender, socio-economic segment, racial, disabled, etc, to both encourage <br />their civic involvement and carry their messages to the City and City Council. My view would be the <br />council both represents the City to diverse populations and communicates observations and direct <br />information to the City. This communication could improve all round civic engagement and inform <br />decision-making. <br />What specific skills or experiences do you have that would be beneficial in serving on the advisory <br />commission for which you are applying? I have experience working with diverse populations, <br />particularly new immigrant/refugee groups. For example, I worked closely with Hispanic populations in <br /> <br />
