REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: January 24, 2022 <br />Item No.: 10.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve Final Payment for 2021 Pavement Management Project <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 On April 12, 2021, the City Council awarded the 2021 Pavement Management Projectto Bituminous <br />3 Roadways, Inc. Work completed under the contract totaled $2,168,220.16. The work was <br />4 successfully completed during the 2021 season and the project is ready to be closed out. <br />5 P-21-04 2021 Pavement Management Project – Approximately 8.9 miles of roadway (See Attachment <br />6 C for the street segments in the 2021 Pavement Management Project) <br />7 City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract: <br />8 Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in <br />9 accordance with plans and specifications. (See Attachment B) <br />10 A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. <br />11 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />12 The final contract amount, $2,168,220.16, is $46,219.41 (2.2%) more than the awarded amount of <br />13 $2,122,000.75. Added costs included an additional road segment, Matilda Street from Iona Lane to <br />14 County Road C, and additional storm sewer work associated with the Rice Street pathway. <br />15 This project was financed using Municipal State Aid funds, utility funds and street infrastructure <br />16 funds. Private assessments in the amount of $99,000.00 were used for sanitary sewer service <br />17 upgrades. <br />18 Outside of the contract with Bituminous Roadways, Inc., this project included costs for work done <br />19 by others. Snelling Avenue/Lydia Avenue signal work totaled $60,576.60, due to outside agencies <br />20 and financed with MSA funds. Additional project costs for testing and other miscellaneous expenses <br />21 totaled $13,984.53 and were charged to the street infrastructure fund. <br />22 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />23 The work completed was in accordance with project plans and specifications. Staff recommends the <br />24 City Council approve a resolution accepting the work completed as the 2021 Pavement Management <br />25 Project and authorize final payment of $111,876.89 to Bituminous Roadways, Inc. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
