Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday,June21,2021 <br />Page2 <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Willmus, Strahan, Groff, Etten and Roe. <br />Nays: None. <br />6.Items Removed from Consent Agenda <br />7.Business Items <br />a.Receive City Department Equity Initiatives Update 2020-2021 <br />City Manager Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for <br />Council Action and related attachments dated June 21, 2021. <br />Police Chief Erika Scheider reviewed the updated Police Equity programs and pol <br />icies with the City Council, including the creation of the Mulitcultural Advisory <br />Committee (MAC) and the Community Action Team (CAT) and the continued <br />work on the entire Police Department Policy manual. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke updated the Council on the Parks and <br />Recreation Equity initiatives, including the contstructon of an inclusive playground <br />at Central Park and the community engagement efforts around the renaming of the <br />Pocahontas Park. <br />Community Development Director Janice Gundlach reviewed the Community De <br />velopment Equity update ip. the Zoning Code, Mapping Prejudice and Just Deeds <br />as well as other racial equity and inclusion initiatives. <br />Public Works Director Marc Culver updated the Council on racial equity and in <br />clusion initiatives in the Public Works Department including adding a diversity, <br />equity, and inclusion component as part of the recycling request for proposal. <br />Finance Director Michelle Pietrick reviewed with the Council finance equity up <br />dates including the purchasing policy, as well as the License Center interpreters. <br />Assistant City Manager Rebecca Olson reviewed the Administration Equity update <br />including communications, volunteers, and administration changes. <br />Equity and Inclusion Manager Thomas Brooks reviewed the work being done with <br />hiring, and the interview process with an equity focus as well as tracking de <br />mographics with a racial equity action plan using an equity lens. <br />City Manager Trudgeon updated the City Council on the Fire Department Equity <br />engagement and involvement, COVID response and support, recruitment efforts <br />and other additions and updates. <br />Mayor Roe thanked all the department heads for the presentation.
