REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: April 11, 2022 Item No.: 7.a Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description:Receive Xcel Energy Northeast Metro Natural Gas Project Presentation 1 B ACKGROUND 2 Xcel Energy has been working on upgrading gas mains in the northeast metro since 2019. This 3 year’s project is phase 4 and is entirely within Roseville. Work will be similar to last year when 4 County Road B between Lexington Avenue and Rice Street was upgraded. This year’s project will 5 be on County Road B between Hamline Avenue and Lexington Avenue and on Hamline Avenue 6 between County Road B and County Road C. This year’s work will be the final phase of the project. 7 Representatives from Xcel Energy and their support team will update the Council on the project 8 including schedules and impacts related to the project and be on hand to answer any questions. 9 More information on the project can be found on Xcel’s webpage for this project: 10 www.XcelEnergyNEMetroGasProject.com 11 Representatives from Xcel Energy and their support team will be present to share an update and 12 answer questions from the Council. 13 F INANCIAL I MPACTS 14 While there are no costs to the City of Roseville for the replacement of the natural gas main, the City 15 is working with Xcel Energy to replace the City’s watermain along a portion of the project corridor 16 which provides cost savings and coordination benefits to both agencies. The Cooperative 17 Agreement between the City and Xcel Energy can be found in the consent agenda. 18 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION 19 Staff recommends that the City Council receive a presentation from Xcel Energy about the Northeast 20 Metro Natural Gas Project and provide input. 21 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION 22 None.
