<br /> <br /> <br />7) STAFF REPORT <br />a) NEW OR RELEVANT COMMUNICATIONS AND UPDATE ITEMS <br />o Staff thanked Commissioner Heikkila for his efforts and guidance during his term on <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />o Applications are still being accepted for the open Commissioner spot on the Parks <br />and Recreation Commission through March 7, 2022. <br />o The Spring/Summer 2022 brochure is now in homes. Registration for activities will <br />open on March 8. <br />o The City Council requirement of face coverings at all city facilities will end at <br />11:59pm on March 1, 2022. <br />o The last day for skating at the OVAL will be Sunday, March 6. After the OVAL <br />closes, contractors will be mobilizing to begin work on the update projects. <br />o The Accelerated Emerald Ash Borer program has been approved by the City Council. <br />The city will be partnering with Tree Trust to complete the project. The project will <br />include youth engagement, volunteerism, tree sales and discounts on private ash tree <br />removals. <br />o Staff has reached out to contacts regarding the Pocahontas Park naming project.
