<br />VILLAGE COUNC IL OF IDSEVIILE <br />Continued meetinc; l"'londay Eve., Feb. 22, 1954 at 7:30 P.l1. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date as a continuation of t he reg- <br />ular meeting of February 16, 1954 with the following members present: <br />Carlson, Olson, Salverda and Hammersten. Milner Carley, Village Engineer <br />was also present for a short while. <br /> <br />Carley stated that he was helping the Building Inspector in reV2SlDg the <br />building code and bringing it up to date and that they may 'med some <br />technical help. <br /> <br />Olson moved, seconded by Carlson that Eel Hurl..hurt be retained as an <br />aRsociate consultant in reviewing the build-i_ng code. J:.lounds View <br />are yeviewing their codes and would share in the expense <br />of Hurlburt I shelp. <br /> <br />The matter of rubbish routes was up for discussion. Those present felt <br />everyone who has a route and feels he wants to pay the necessary license <br />fee should be issued one. <br /> <br />The Clerk asked if it were possible for t he haulers to establish a <br />set rate per month so the:'e vlOuld be no price cutting, and they were <br />agreeable. <br /> <br />The matter of dividing the Village into sections for each route was <br />discussed but the idea did not me~;t with very Pavorable approval <br />as some sections are more densely populated than others. Rosenquist <br />of lvlinnesota Avenue thought the license fee was a little high compared <br />to ,he type of work. Nayor Olson suggested a license for each truck and <br />thought a fee of $35.00 was ample. <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, seconded by Olson that Ordinance #161 be amended, <br />reducing the license fee from $50.00 to ~~35 .00 and each man operating <br />a truck must have a license and the n~mbered license plates must be <br />in the truck or the pj)erator be able to produce them on request. <br />Roll Call Ayes (4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Hr. Francis suggested that the truck license number be registered <br />with the clerk 2nd be put on the garbage license application so we <br />know who the operator is. <br /> <br />The matter of a police department was up for discussion. The budget <br />has $5,000 in it for starting a police department. Hammersten told <br />oflhe experience Ray Goneau, a resident of the Village had as a <br />police officer in St. PauJ.. It w as suggested he be contacted for a <br />future meeting. <br /> <br />The Clerk read the applications of the following people for t he various <br />licenses¡ <br /> <br />General Contracting - ..J.
