VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE I Continued meeting Thurs. Eve., February 25, 1954 at 7:30 P.Ì~. The Village Council met on the above date as a continuation of the continued meeting of Monday evening, February 22, with the following members present: Carlson, Olson, Salverda and Hammersten. Willmus Has absent. The meeting was called to order by Hayor Olson at 7 :40. Olson moved, seconded by Carlson that the minutes of the last meeting be approved according to minutes mailed each member. Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). 462 Hayor Olson inquired if t he diggers of base:nents were licensed as theyi Basements seem to tear up the roads when unloading the equipment from the low boys. It was decided to table the illatter until a later date. The purpose of this meeting was to disscuss the formation of a police department. Hr. Ray Goneau, 1377 Sandhurst, had been invited to sit in on the meeting as he has had years of experience in St. Paul as a policeman and detective. Discussion was held on what some of our police problems would ~, traffic, teen-ager,s and speeding and how best to get started with the money set dOvITliOthe budget for that purpose. Hamraersten moved, seconded by Carlson that Ray Goneau be appointed Chief of Police effective March 1st. Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes- (0) . Goneau is to get the necessary tags and reports we will need from his friends in St. Paul and submit them to the Council forqpproval at the next meeting.
