<br />VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE I <br />Continued meeting Thurs. Eve., February 25, 1954 at 7:30 P.Ì~. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date as a continuation of the <br />continued meeting of Monday evening, February 22, with the following <br />members present: Carlson, Olson, Salverda and Hammersten. Willmus <br />Has absent. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Hayor Olson at 7 :40. <br /> <br />Olson moved, seconded by Carlson that the minutes of the last meeting <br />be approved according to minutes mailed each member. Roll Call <br />Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />462 <br /> <br />Hayor Olson inquired if t he diggers of base:nents were licensed as theyi Basements <br />seem to tear up the roads when unloading the equipment from the low <br />boys. It was decided to table the illatter until a later date. <br /> <br />The purpose of this meeting was to disscuss the formation of a police <br />department. Hr. Ray Goneau, 1377 Sandhurst, had been invited to sit <br />in on the meeting as he has had years of experience in St. Paul as a <br />policeman and detective. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on what some of our police problems would ~, <br />traffic, teen-ager,s and speeding and how best to get started with <br />the money set dOvITliOthe budget for that purpose. <br /> <br />Hamraersten moved, seconded by Carlson that Ray Goneau be appointed <br />Chief of Police effective March 1st. Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes- <br />(0) . <br /> <br />Goneau is to get the necessary tags and reports we will need from <br />his friends in St. Paul and submit them to the Council forqpproval <br />at the next meeting. <br /> <br />The Clerk read theSollow~ng applications for licenses. <br /> <br />Electric: <br /> <br />Tieso Elec. Co., 1550 W. Larpenteur <br /> <br />Gen. Contractors: <br /> <br />Bentley Construction, 1359 Burke Ave. <br />D.A. Nelson, Construction Inc. 1550 W. Larpenteur <br /> <br />Plastering: Robert Berqual~ 2750 No. Churchill St. <br /> <br />Olson moved, seconded by Hammersten that the licenses be approved. <br />Roll Call Ayes-(4) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, seconded by Olson that we adjourn.
