Two representatives from the development company, Edison Land, LLC, were present at the <br />meeting to provide additional information on the development and answer and questions. They noted <br />that thereare many on-site recreation amenities provided for residents of the development, <br />including: fitness centers, community rooms, sport court, green space, swimming pool, sun deck, <br />walking trail with fitness equipment, rain garden, dog walk area and playground. The developers <br />worked with the city to connect pathways between the development and Sandcastle Park. The <br />developer discussed potentially purchasing a parcel next to the development as a potential land <br />dedication. <br /> <br />Commissioner Matts-Benson asked what amenities are currently at Sandcastle Park. Staff noted that <br />there is a play structure, park building, ice rinks, tennis court, basketball court and a sandlot baseball <br />field. <br />The developer defined where the pathways are located throughout the development. Commissioner <br />Arneson questioned if residents would feel comfortable going to a city park located within the <br />development. <br /> <br />Staff noted that there could be potential opportunity to adjust the amenities at Sandcastle Park to <br />better fit with the needs of the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Vice-Chair Hoag relayed that he believes Sandcastle Park,coupled with the amenities of the new <br />development, cover the needs of the residents in Constellation A. <br /> <br />Commissioner Boulton made a motion to recommend cash in lieu of land, in the amount <br />of $1,015,750, to the City Council to satisfy Park Dedication at 3080-3110 Old Highway <br />8. Vice-Chair Hoag seconds. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lenhart added that with the density of people in the new development itmay be nice <br />to have green space available outside of Sandcastle Park. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the size of the land dedication opportunity andpotentialoptions for park <br />improvements at Sandcastle. <br /> <br /> Roll Call <br />Ayes: Arneson, Boulton, Brown, Dahlstrom, Hoag, Matts-Benson. <br />Nays: Lenhart. <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
