County Road B Reconstruction
Traffic Calming Ideas
Traffic Calming Designs:
Narrowing the Roadway —When the road looks
wide, drivers feels comfortable at greater speeds. A
traffic calming method proposed for all layouts of
County Road B is to narrow the roadway, by
eliminating the shoulder area. The lanes are
proposed to be u-feet wide, similar to Eustis Street
west of the large cul-de-sac.
Neighborhood Entrance —To make this section of
County Road B look different from County Road B
east of Cleveland Avenue, a large median island is
proposed for all layouts at the entrance to this
neighborhood, to help alert drivers that the speed
limit will be low past this point.
Visual Speed Cues —Medians with plantings are
proposed in Layout Option C to provide visual
cues to the driver on how fast they are going, to
help them avoid unintentional high speeds.
