Attachment A <br />§ <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: July 19, 2021 <br />Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission Joint Meeting <br />with the City Council <br />1 BACKGROUND <br />2 Each year, the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Commission meets with the City <br />s Council to review activities and accomplishments and to discuss the upcoming year's work plan and <br />a issues that may be considered. The following are activities over the past two years and issues the <br />5 Commission would like to take up in the next year: <br />s Activities and accomplishments: <br />7 o Installation of the food scraps drop off site at Leaf Recycling Center <br />a o Sustainability has become a focus area for the Commission: <br />9 o Established an annual "Sustainability Super Meeting" in either January or February to <br />10 focus on sustainability related items <br />11 o Green Team Annual Report including recognition of Step 5 of GreenStep Cities! <br />12 o Partners in Energy Program including the recommendation to adopt the Energy <br />13 Action Plan which was formally adopted on June 21, 2021. <br />14 o Final implementation of the Campus Solar installations and subscriptions to <br />15 Community Solar sites <br />16 o Implementation of new water rate tiers <br />17 o Review and release of a Request for Proposals for Recycling Services, and review of <br />18 proposals and recommendation to Council for awarding a contract. <br />19 o Review of proposed amendments to the Pathway Master Plan. Public meeting on six <br />20 proposed segments occurring at July 2021 PWET Commission meeting. <br />21 Work Plan items for the upcoming year: <br />22 o How to engage residents better on all topics. Incorporate equity and inclusion within our <br />23 engagement efforts. <br />24 o Consideration of modified speed limits on city streets <br />25 o Review of traffic impact study requirements and guidelines for development <br />26 o Implementation of Energy Action Plan and other sustainability initiatives (i.e. EV chargers) <br />27 o Development of Bike Network Plan <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
