REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:June 6, 2022 <br />Item No.:10.d <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description: ApproveShort Term Rental Licensesfor 257 South McCarrons Blvd W.and <br />1885 Shady Beach Avenue. <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 Chapter 909 of City Code requires the licensing of non-owner occupied short term rentals of dwelling <br />3 units, subject to certain exemptions. Applications(Attachment A) for short-term rental licenseswere <br />4 submittedby the property owners of the subject properties. Both properties are single family homes. <br />5 The property owners havecertified and attested to the requirement of lodging tax payment, as well <br />6 as, the maximum occupancy of four or less unrelated adults or one family.1885 Shady Beach hasa <br />7 current Short Term Rental License, which is valid through June22, 2022and 257 South McCarrons <br />8 has a current Short Term Rental License,which is valid through July 14, 2022. There have been no <br />9 nuisance or property maintenance violations since eitherproperty received their initial Short Term <br />10 Rental License.Short-term rentals licenses include the requirement of minimum stays based on on- <br />11 season (10 days) and off-season (7 days) times of the year. <br />12 Upon issuance,the license will be valid for 365 days from the expiration date of the current license. <br />13 A currentcopy of the license must be posted in the rental unit, along with current copies of City Code <br />14 Sections 405, 407 and 602. A draft of the license is provided as Attachment B(1885 Shady Beach) <br />15 and Attachment C (257 South McCarrons). <br />16 The applicantshavesupplied all required license information and paid the license fee of $515. In <br />17 accordance with Section 909.03, the process for licensure is outlined in Chapter 301, which requires <br />18 presentation to the City Council. Based upon the requirements outlined in ordinance, the property <br />19 owners areentitled to the license. <br />20 <br />21 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />22 Licensing required by Section 909, effective as of February 8, 2021. <br />23 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />24 The correct fees were paid to the City at the time of application submittal. <br />25 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />26 Staff recommends the approval of Short Term Rental Licensesfor 1885 Shady Beach Ave. and 257 <br />27 South McCarrons Blvd W.
