REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: July 11, 2022 <br />Item No.: 7.f <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consider a request to perform an abatement for unresolved violations of City <br />Code at 175 McCarron St. <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 The subject propertyis an occupied, registered rental twin-home. <br />3 Current violations include: <br />4 o Inoperable vehicles (407.02.G.2.c, 407.04.A) <br />5 o Vehicles without current registration (407.02.G.4.b, 407.04.D) <br />6 On June 16, 2022, staff received a complaint of unlicensed and inoperable vehicles in the <br />7 driveway. Staff verified violations and posted a door hanger on property and notified the contact <br />8 on file for the rental registration. <br />9 A follow up inspection on June 27, 2022 showed no progress toward compliance. <br />10 A notice of Council hearing was hand delivered to the occupant on the property June 30, 2022. <br />11 Staff spoke with the occupant on-site and discussed the observed violations and asked for their <br />12 plan to achieve compliance. The occupant stated that sincethe vehicle was in the driveway, they <br />13 didn’t feel it was in violation. Staff attempted to explain the provisions of City Code, but the <br />14 resident did not wish to discuss further. Staff gave the resident options for attaining compliance, <br />15 which again they did not wish to discuss further. <br />16 As of the writing of this report the violations remain. No contact has been received from the <br />17 property owner and/or property manager. <br />18 A status update will be provided during the hearing. <br />19 <br />20 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />21 City Abatement: <br />22 An abatement includesthe following: <br />23 Removal of unlicensed, inoperable vehicles $0.00 <br />24 Council ApprovedAbatement Fee per Fee Schedule $350.00 <br />25 <br />26 Total: $350.00 <br />27*All costs (except for the Administrative Abatement Fee) are estimated – cost estimate is for removal and disposal <br />28 only, items stored outside have no value. <br />29 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
