REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: August 22, 2022 <br />Item No.: 10.d <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Approve Final Payment for Lexington Watermain ImprovementsProject <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 On March 7, 2022, the City Council awarded a contract for the Lexington Watermain Improvements <br />3 Project to SGP Contracting, Inc.in the amount of $543,996.14.Work completed under the contract <br />4 totaled $498,614.08. The work was successfully completed during the 2022 season and the project <br />5 is ready to be closed out. <br />6 The project consisted of replacing the watermain on Lexington Avenue between the railroad tracks <br />7 near County Road C to Woodhill Drive. Work included replacing valves, hydrants, reconnecting <br />8 water services and associated restoration work. <br />9 City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract: <br />10 Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in <br />11 accordance with plans and specifications. (See Attachment B) <br />12 A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. <br />13 (See Attachment A) <br />14 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />15 The final contract amount, $498,614.08, is $45,382.06 (14.66%) less than the awarded amount of <br />16 $543,996.14. The cost decrease was due to some elimination of work due to utility conflicts. <br />17 Outside of the contract with SGP Contracting, Inc., this project included costs for testing and other <br />18 miscellaneous expenses that totaled $7,960.75 for a total project cost of $506,574.83. The overall <br />19 budget for the project in the CIP was $600,000. <br />20 All costs for the project will be paid using the water utility fund. <br />21 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />22 The work completed was in accordance with project plans and specifications. Staff recommends the <br />23 City Council approve a resolution accepting the work completed as the Lexington Watermain <br />24 Improvements Project and authorize final payment of $12,000.00 to SGP Contracting, Inc. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
