REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:August 22,2022 <br />Item No.:7.b <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Receive the 2023City Manager Recommended Budget & Tax Levy <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 <br />3 At the April 18, 2022City Council meeting, the Council established a general timeline for the 2023 <br />4 budget process including the following key dates: <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 To date, the Council has received a number of budget information packages and has held several <br />9 discussions on city priorities, service levels, and the associated financial impact on residents. These <br />10 discussions and the resulting Council guidance have been incorporated into the 2023City Manager <br />11 Recommended Budget & Tax Levy presented below. <br />12 <br />13 2023City Manager Recommended Budget <br />14 The 2023 citywide Recommended Budget is $63,390,240, which is an increase of $4,443,468 or 8.6%. <br />15 As part of the overall budget, theCity Manager is recommending a tax levy increase of $1,741,210or <br />16 7% over the current levy. The City Manager has prepared a separate memo with detailed information <br />17 regarding these proposed amounts.
