Commissioner Lenhart relayed that Oasis Park is a favorite for her children if staff are needing any <br />ideas for the new playgrounds at Owasso Hills and Pioneer Parks. <br />CommissionerLenhart inquired if staff haslooked into the opportunity for the city to become a Blue <br />Zone. She added that Blue Zones are identified locations where people commonly live to be 100 <br />years old. Researchers are working to share the common characteristics and lifestyles of people in <br />Blue Zones with other communities. Staff relayed that they are familiar with the book “The Blue <br />Zones” and shared that the author is from the Twin Cities. Staff asked Commissioner Lenhart to pass <br />along the article that she read regarding The Blue Zones. <br /> <br />Chair Dahlstrom reminded the Commission to sign up to attend the upcoming Discover Your Parks <br />(DYP) events. Staff added that the first DYP event will be on Wednesday, June 22 and that they will <br />resend the electronic sign-up sheet. <br /> <br />Chair Dahlstrom noted that there is not a Commission meeting in July and the August Commission <br />meeting will be on Thursday, August 4 due to Night to Unite on Tuesday, August 2. <br /> <br />Vice-Chair Hoag congratulated staff member Matt Johnson on his promotion to Director of the <br />Roseville Parks and Recreation Department. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ybarra relayed that there has been a fox in her neighborhood recently. Staff shared <br />that there is not an Animal Control Division in Roseville and the tasks are split between the Police <br />and the Parks and Recreation departments.
