<br />528 <br /> <br />VILLAGE "T RCSEVILtE <br /> <br />Hegular meeting of the Village Council Tues. August 10th, 1954 at 8 p.m. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date with the following members pre- <br />sent: Salverda, Carlson, Olson, ì-lillmus and Hammersten. B. H. Loftsgaarden, <br />Village Attorney, was also present. <br /> <br />Carlson moved, Olson seconded that the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />August 3 be approved as per the copies presented the members of the Council minutes <br />with the corrections suggested by Attorney Loftsgaarden. Roll Call-Ayes (5)- <br />Nê.yes (0). <br /> <br />Mr. Lewis of 3138 W. Owasso Blvd. asked permission of the Council to build <br />a garage on his property with a 20 foot setback from the road instead of <br />the usual 30 feet, because there is a 4 foot bank and an apple tree that <br />would have to be removed if the garage was set back 30 feet. Other garagew <br />in the vicinity have used the 20 foot setback because of the lay of the <br />land. Hammersten moved, Olson seconded the permit be granted to Hr. Lewis. <br />Holl Call -Ayes (5)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />III'. Ernest Narkham and Vic Gangl, excavator contractors in the Village, <br />spoke for several other contractors and asked the Council to explain the <br />need to bond the construction contractors who do work in Hoseville. They <br />do not mind the license, but they feel there is no need for thenl to be <br />bonded as their insurance covers them. <br /> <br />A discussion was held among the Council and the contractors about the <br />bonding. l1ayor Olson said the Council was here to represent all of the <br />people and not just a few contractors. He asked the contractors to let <br />the Council take their suggestion under advisement. <br /> <br />Hr. Ernie Nelson of 1371 W. Co. Ed. B asked the Council ho\-; they arrived <br />at the varied amounts on the bonds. He said the electricians are re- <br />quired to be bonded by the State and did not feel it necessary to also be <br />bonded in Roseville. <br /> <br />Hr. Bill Gangl of 211 E. Owasso Lane, a well dr:i.ller, asked the Council <br />"hy the will drillers have to licensed and bonded and he said he thought <br />a quàlified wœll driller should be in inspector. The Council felt the <br />present inspector was qualified. <br /> <br />Mr. Geo. Croft of lö60 Tatum, a General Contractor, wanted to go on record <br />as being against bonding. He said he felt regulations were necessary but <br />that there is too much doubling up in licensing and bonding. He stated <br />that a person buying a home is going to be charged fer these fees and etc. <br />and they are not getting any extra value j.n their homes for this amount. <br />He ..ranted to make it clear that he has nothing aGainst the Village Inspec- <br />tors, in fact he was very well satisfied with the cooperation he has re- <br />ceived from them. <br /> <br />Frank Gangl, a General Contractor, stated that he felt the general contractor <br />should not have to be licensed and bonded as long as all the tradesmen are <br />licensed and bonded. <br /> <br />111'.
