August 17, 195L~ 2 pJ¡n. <br /> <br />The Council met on the above date vdth the following members present& <br />Ca.rlson, Olson, Salverda, Willmus and Hamr'lersten. Hilner Carley, <br />Village Engineer, and B. H. Loftsgaarden, VillaGe Attorney, were also <br />present. <br /> <br />Carlson moved, Olson seconded that the minutes of the August 10th meet- <br />ing be approved as presented the Council by mail. Roll Call Ayes (5)- <br />Hayes (0). <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from the <br />5th Addition. Hammersten moved, <br />to 1'11'. Carley for further study. <br /> <br />Plat Comrdssion on the C. :.. IÜchael, <br />Carlson seconded the plat be referred <br />Roll Call Ayes (S)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter and a resolution from the Hi¿;h\.¡av Dept, in <br />reference to building culverts on Snel~ing Ave. (Hgwy 51) near T.H.36. <br />Olson moved, Carlson seconded to adopt the resolution of the Ei¡:.;h\vay <br />Dept. Roll Call Ayes (5)--Nayes (0). <br /> <br />The Clerk read this resolution: <br /> <br />WHEPK·.S, on June 8, 1954 the Village of Roseville adopted a n.otion <br />that the qu.œstion of establishing an on-sale liquor store be sub- <br />rnitted to a vote of the people at a primary election and, <br /> <br />~{IillREAS, there is no provision in the state læ: for the submission <br />of the same to a vote of the people, and <br /> <br />~~ŒF~~S, the Attorney General has ruled that the Villaze does not <br />even have authority to incur expenses for such a vote. <br /> <br />l.Jm¡ TlIEP..EFORE, the Village of Roseville hereby resolves that the <br />action taken b~r the Village on June 8th to submit the matter to <br />a vote of the people at a primar:r election is hereby rescinded. <br /> <br />H2nmersten moved ;:,he àdoption of tlle resolution, seconded by \<Jillmus. <br />Roll Call Ayes (5)-Nayes (0). <br /> <br />A letter was read from the Stubers of the Waten,orks I~. They asked <br />the Village Council to supervise and do the work o~ installing the <br />Hater line connecting them to the St. Paul Hater System. Hamr::ersten <br />moved, Olson seconded the matter be refe~red to the Villace Engineer <br />and the Village Attorney. Roll Call Ayes (5)-Naycs (0). <br /> <br />A discussion Has held in reference to the Sherren St. turnaround, <br />.'1'.
