REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date:October 17, 2022
Item No.:10.c
Department Approval City Manager Approval
Item Description: Approve City Sign Permits for Community Visioning Hello Lamp Post Signs
1 B ACKGROUND
2 The City Council annually approves sign permits for city events held throughout the year by
3 multiple City Departments. For 2022, as part of the Community Visioning process, the City Council
4 authorized Zan Associates to utilize a unique approach to gathering input using a product called
5 Hello Lamp Post (HLP). The HLP process requires putting up signs throughout the city which
6 allows people to interact with through text messages.
7 City Code Section 1010.03 B. exempts signs erected by a public agency in and/or above or
8 overhanging a public right-of-way, however staff feels it is best practice to seek approval from the
9 City Council for the signs. These signs will be primarily located in city parks, and for other
10 locations, permission is being sought from the authorized agency or owner of the location.
11 A list of the general locations for the signs on City property is in the attachedsummary. Signs will
12 be placed following Council approval and will be as weather allows. Additional signs will be placed
13 elsewhere in the city once permission is received from the property owner.
14 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS
15 None.
16 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION
17 Staff recommends approval for Hello Lamp Post signs to be located throughout the city as detailed
18 in the attached summary.
19 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION
20 Approve the Hello Lamp Post signs located throughout the city as detailed in the attached summary.
Prepared by: Rebecca Olson, Assistant City Manager
Attachments: A: Temporary Signage summary – Hello Lamp Post
