REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date:November 7, 2022
Item No.: 7.e
Department Approval City Manager Approval
Item Description: Consider Adoption of 2023 City Council and Economic Development
Authority Calendar
1 B ACKGROUND
2 Annually, the City Council approves a meeting calendar for the upcoming year. Included as
3 Attachment A is the proposed 2023 City Council meeting calander. This calendar is similar to past
4 meeting schedules and takes into account holidays and past practices of limiting meetings in
5 February, June, August and December.
6
th
7 Council is considering designating Monday, June 19 a holiday in observation of Juneteenth. Should
8 Council approve the addition of this date as an official city holiday, the second meeting in June
th
9 would be scheduled for Tuesday, June 20.
10
11 The 2023 calendar schedule continues the inclusion of EDA meetings as part of City Council
12 meeting nights. As can be seen from Attachment A, staff is proposing that the City Council meet as
13 the EDA on abimonthly basis at the start of the City Council Work Sessions. The EDAis
14 considering the calendar at their November 7 meeting. It is intended that these bimonthly meetings
15 will take care of most EDA business. However, staff does expect that there will be an occasional
16 need to have additional EDA meetings prior to City Council meeting in order to be responsive to
17 deadlines.
18
19 In addition, staff has included dates for the biannual commission interviews held in March and
20 September.
21 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION
22 Approve the 2023 City Council and EDA Meeting Calendar.
23 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION
24 Motion to approve the 2023 City Council and EDA Meeting Calendar.
Prepared by: Katie Bruno, Deputy City Clerk
Attachment A: 2023 proposed meeting calendar
