REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:November 28, 2022 <br />Item No.: 7.a <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Hearing to Solicit Public Comment on the2023Budgetand Tax Levy <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 At the April 18, 2022City Council meeting, the Council establisheda general timeline for the 2023 <br />3 budget process including the following key dates: <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 The City Council is now asked to hold the final budget hearing.The purpose of the hearing is to provide <br />8 citizens with an opportunity to provide input on city programs and the Budget and to gauge their <br />9 willingness to pay additionalproperty taxes and fees in order to maintainprograms at current service <br />10 levels. The City Council can then use this input to help guide the setting of a final tax levy and budget. <br />11 <br />12 At the September 26, 2022City Council meeting, the Council adopted a 2023preliminary, not-to-exceed <br />13 tax levy and a preliminary budget.
