If this is a student application <br />Field not completed. <br />please list grade in school <br />Note <br />There is no character limit for the fields below. <br />Why do you want to serve on <br />I would like to serve on the Planning Commission because I believe <br />this Commission? <br />that it is a crucial link between the Council and the community. During <br />the next year it will be the responsibility of this Commission to translate <br />the aspirations of the Comprehensive Plan into the zoning that will <br />years on the Council and long history of work with neighborhoods and <br />community groups allow me additional insight in this process. In <br />addition, I believe I can listen effectively, strike compromise where <br />necessary, and use my community work to provide a unique point of <br />view to others on the commission. <br />What is your view of the role <br />This Commission has a statutory role in reviewing ordinances, policies, <br />of this Commission? <br />and proposals to insure compliance with existing statute and zoning. <br />Its findings are advisory to the Council. As the commission pursues its <br />work, it holds hearings and seeks input from businesses and residents <br />regarding projects coming before the Commission for review. Changes <br />to ordinances, zoning, or policies can be initiated by the Council, a <br />member of the public, or the Planning Commission. This commission <br />serves in an advisory role to the Council. <br />What specific skills or <br />I believe my years as a resident, community activist, and council <br />experiences do you have that <br />member allow me to a provide unique background and historical <br />would be beneficial in <br />perspective to some discussions. My years on the Council make me <br />serving on the advisory <br />very familiar with existing regulations, zoning, policies, and the <br />commission for which you <br />background discussions as well as difficulties and shortcomings of <br />are applying? <br />some ordinances and policies.
