The intent to to establish a fair and open notification and selection <br />27 process that encourages all Roseville residents to apply for appointments. In addition, the city’s <br />28 Strategic Racial Equity Action Plan (SREAP) has identified diversifying city commissions as a <br />29 high impact area of focus. Racially and ethnically diverse policy makers and advisors are key to <br />30 serving residents and other customers with excellence. <br />31 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />32 None. <br />33 R ACIAL E QUITY I MPACT S UMMARY <br />34 Racially and ethnically diverse policy-makers and policy advisors are key to serving residents <br />35 and other customers with excellence. The role of appointed boards, commissions, and councils is <br />36 to advise the Mayor and Council on city policies and practices. A governing body that mirrors <br />37 our population increases City government access to great ideas, strengthens innovation and <br />38 problem-solving, and ensures we are representing the viewpoints and considerations of all our <br />39 communities. <br />40 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />41 Consider reappointments to various commissioners and whether to interview returning <br />42 commissioners. For informational purposes, the recruitment timeline is listed below: <br />43 <br />January 23 <br />Council reviews updated applications and considers <br />commissioners who are seeking reappointment for a term <br />beginning April 1, 2023. Determine if council wants to re- <br />interview any current commissioners. <br />March 1 <br />Application period closes <br />This date was chosen to allow for the March/April newsletter to <br />be sent to residents’ homes prior to application be closed. <br />March 7-8 <br />Interviews are scheduled for new applicants and/or any <br />commissioners council seeks to re-interview. Depending upon the <br />number of applicants, a second night may or may not be <br />necessary. <br />March 13 <br />Council appoints applicants to various commission vacancies for <br />terms beginning April 1, 2023. <br />March 23 <br />New Commissioner Orientation is scheduled. <br />April <br />Ethics Training is scheduled. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />
