Action 1: <br />inclusive and <br />coordinated <br />decision making <br />BP 24.1: Use a city commission or committee to lead, coordinate, report to and engage community <br />members on the identification and equitable implementation of sustainability best practices. <br />24.1 in Action: <br />Rochester's Sustainability and Resiliency Task Force <br />In 2020 Rochester created a Sustainability and Resiliency Task Force to ensure both <br />meaningful community engagement and coordination across existing commissions and <br />committees. Rochester's website describes this decision In the following way: <br />Social equity, environmental stewardship, fiscal responsibility and sustoinobility ore the <br />foundational principles of the City Council and the reason the City is taking action to ensure <br />that the community has o voice in guiding o sustoinobility and resiliency plan. <br />The City of Rochester has created a Sustainability and Resiliency Task Force whose <br />purpose is to develop and implement a plan with input and guidance from all of <br />Rochester's residents. This task force includes a diverse cross-section of the community <br />to ensure that all voices are represented. Task force members will leverage existing <br />commissions, committees, community organizations and nonprofits to address and <br />implement goals outlined In adopted plans to formulate a community -wide sustainability <br />and community resiliency plan. <br />According to Mayor Kim Norton, "It's remarkable how just a few simple adjustments to <br />our physical environment or minor changes to our behaviors can result In a substantial <br />positive impact on our environment and on the future of our planet. We all need to do <br />our part In order to assure our children and grandchildren have a safe and secure future. <br />Our youth are asking us to help.
