C
Attachment
I think the park should be renamed to Tiwahe (Tih-wah-hay) Park, because Tiwahe is the Dakota word for family. The specific definition is "(n) household, members of the family in the
household." This park is on the ancestral homelands of the Dakota people, so using a Dakota word for the new park name would be honoring not only the ancestors who lived here before,
but the Dakota people that are still here today. In addition, it is a simple name that explains the main use of the park as a family park! I live across the street from the Park and
beg you to make the name simple, if you choose to change it. If you want a Dakota word, try Keya (turtle) as there have been such in the little pond. Hinhan (owl) would also be good
- I hear them hooting from the neighbors' trees in the night. If an English word, how about All Welcome? But please I urge you not to pick a word such as you have given to the former
community center. You must not know American speakers if you don't know the word will be soon butchered; it may even morph into For the plantings near the woods. After the builder of
many home in the neighborhood of Pocahontas park. After the fox family that lived down the road.I have lived near the park for 35+ years, my children grew up playing at the park. I walk
early, every morning, and have seen some beautiful sunrises coming over the park. The "three sisters" here are corn, beans, and squash. A number of Native American tribes interplanted
this trio because they thrive together, much like three inseparable sisters. Not only would the name pay homage to a historical tradition of homestead/farming which is true to Roseville
roots, but it would also encourage others to try a three sisters garden at home -- and to learn about our history. Because the Monarch Butterfly was recently put on an endangered species
list and the park could be a good place to incorporate awareness as well as plants the monarchs need to surviveThere is an abundance of maples in the neighborhood! The squirrels love
them.
