In addition, she also <br />believes Keya (Turtle) Park would be an appropriate choice. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lenhart shared that she supports Keya (Turtle) Park as it is a fun short name. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the name Wastemna (Bergamot) Park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Arneson suggested that naming the park Dakota Makoce (Dakota Land) and not <br />returning the land to the Dakota people could potentially be viewed as disrespectful. <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed Parks and Recreation Operating Policy #40: Assigning Names to City <br />Facilities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lenhart challenged that using the name Dakota Makoce (Dakota Land) would not <br />align with Parks and Recreation Operating Policy #40. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brown withdrew the current motion. Vice-Chair Hoag Seconded. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Lenhart motioned to recommend renaming Pocahontas Park to Keya <br />(Turtle) Park to the City Council.
