REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: February 13, 2023 <br />Item No.: 7.b <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consider Lake Owasso Safe Boating Association’s Request for Permit <br />Renewal of the Water-Ski Slalom Course on Lake Owasso <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 In 1997 the Lake Owasso Task Force presented a series of recommendations to the City Council. <br />3 The Council, in the resolution taking action on the recommendations, agreed it would be the policy <br />4 of the City to provide for public comment at Council meetings regarding requests for permits on <br />5 lakes. <br />6 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />7 The Lake Owasso Safe Boating Association requests approval for placement of a water ski slalom <br />8 course in the same location as in the past fifty years. <br />9 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />10 There are no financial impacts to the City. <br />11 R ACIAL E QUITY I MPACT S UMMARY <br />12 Upon review, staff has not identified a disparate racial equity impact in relation to this request for <br />13 council action. <br />14 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />15 Approve Lake Owasso Safe Boating Association’s request for a permitfrom the Ramsey County <br />16 Sheriff for a water ski course on Lake Owasso. <br />17 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION <br />18 Motion approving Lake Owasso Safe Boating Association’s request for a permit from the Ramsey <br />19 County Sheriff for a water ski course on Lake Owasso for the 2023 season. <br />Prepared by:Joe Adams -Police Deputy Chief <br />Attachments:A:Request for Approval Letter <br />B.Copy of Certificate of Insurance <br />Page 1of 1 <br /> <br />
