6) STAFF REPORT <br />a) DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES <br /> Debbie Cash, Recreation Supervisor and Naturalist retired on February 2. Deon Haider has <br />been hired as the new Recreation Supervisor and Naturalist. <br /> The Martin Luther King Day Natural Resource Event in Central Park had 33 volunteers <br />participate. <br /> The recent Candlelight Snowshoe Event at the Cedarholm Golf Course and Community <br />Building had 150 participants. <br /> The Chinese New Year Event at Harriet Alexander Nature Center on January 29 had 211 <br />people attend. <br /> Arts at the Oval will take place on March 25, 2023 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) at the Roseville Skating <br />Center. <br />120 Community Garden plots will be available this spring at Oasis Park. <br /> The Sweetheart Dance will be on February 24 at the Roseville Skating Center. <br /> Upcoming adult trips: Ives Auditorium (March 22) and Winona Day Trip (April 25). <br /> The 2023 Spring/Summer brochure will be in homes by the last week of February with <br />registration opening March 7. <br /> <br />b) OTHER NEW OR RELEVANT COMMUNICATION AND UPDATE ITEMS <br />Commissioner Ybarra asked if any proposals have been received for the food service at the <br />Cedarholm Community Building. Staff relayed that one vendor has submitted a proposal that is <br />currently being reviewed. <br />Commissioner Arneson suggested the removal of the old boardwalk pieces at Harriet Alexander <br />Nature Center. <br /> <br />Staff noted that the March Commission meeting will be the last meeting for Vice-Chair Hoag <br />and Commissioner Lenhart.
