Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, March 13, 2023 <br /> Page 3 <br /> Councilmember Groff stated it was helpful for him to hear from the people who <br /> have been on the Commissions and to compare their background and information <br /> to people newly applying for the open positions. <br /> Councilmember Schroeder made a point that she appreciates all the service of the <br /> commissioners being reappointed and she thinks reappointment makes sense <br /> because those individuals have done so much work for the City. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Groff, Strahan, Etten, Schroeder, and Roe. <br /> Nays: None <br /> c. Consider Appointments to Various City Commissions <br /> City Manager Patrick Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the <br /> Request for Council Action and related attachments dated March 13, 2023. <br /> Strahan moved, Groff seconded, appointing Karen Beckman and Jessica Raygor to <br /> the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> Council Discussion <br /> Councilmember Strahan indicated there was a really strong group of candidates for <br /> this position. She thought both of these individuals would bring unique and <br /> exciting things to the group. <br /> Councilmember Groff explained there were some really good people applying and <br /> he would like to see a bit more diversity on the Commissions. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Groff, Strahan, Etten, Schroeder, and Roe. <br /> Nays: None <br /> Etten moved, Schroeder seconded, appointing Matthew Bauer to the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Council Discussion <br /> Councilmember Etten thought Mr. Bauer presented a good case for himself. Some <br /> of his involvement in Woodbury and working on planning decisions and working <br /> on something with the City there gives him some unique perspective. He also <br /> appreciated Mr. Bauer's international experience which might bring some new <br /> perspectives to the City. <br /> Councilmember Schroeder explained Mr. Bauer worked with the prairie land and <br /> developed it and then got the city involved in it so he understood the process from <br />
