Pavement Management <br />Maintenance - Sealcoats — No Longer Use <br />• Sealcoating — Installing a oil with a layer <br />of rock on top of existing paving <br />• Goal <br />• Add life into the pavement <br />• Eliminate surface defects <br />• Historically seal coated roadways every 7- <br />10 years. <br />• Quit seal coating in 2014 due to <br />delamination (stripping of the top layer of <br />asphalt) <br />• Unknown causes but it reduced life of <br />existing pavements <br />• Some roads needed to be resurfaced 12-15 <br />years instead of 20-25 years. <br />
