Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,April 24,2023 <br /> Page 9 <br /> of an Interim Use for the site, the City is not going to be completely <br /> satisfied in that regard. If the Board goes ahead with this motion,he <br /> thought that should be acknowledged. The ultimate goal is once again to <br /> have completely safe, completely healthy, and completely dignified and <br /> appropriate housing for every individual. <br /> Boardmember Etten acknowledged everything Chair Roe said and <br /> indicated he understands there are different forms of housing and they want <br /> to make sure to be respectful of that. He appreciated the concept behind <br /> the Sacred Settlement and creating a broader home community, addressing <br /> health and safety are other things. He did not want to push anyone's <br /> timeline yet there is a health and safety issue right now and that is his <br /> concern, as a governing body that the City does have to balance these <br /> things. He noted that sometimes, the City has to do one thing to make sure <br /> everyone is safe until the other processes go through. <br /> Boardmember Schroeder appreciated the applicant answering her questions <br /> regarding insurance and she absolutely understood the value of community. <br /> That is the thing to have to help people, no matter what the issues are, <br /> mental health, homelessness, whatever, so the community piece is very <br /> important. She explained the City is trying to balance with the zoning <br /> regulations that have been put in their charge to enforce. She thought it was <br /> good that staff are collaborating with the applicant to ensure that things <br /> move forward. She also thought, for herself, once the church gets to its <br /> process of deciding if this is the route Prince of Peace wants to take, that <br /> will make things much cleaner and easier moving forward. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Strahan, Schroeder, Groff, and Roe. <br /> Nays: Etten <br /> a.ii.
