Sustainability Update <br />• Staff applied for the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) "Sustainable City Award" <br />earlier this year, and received notification that Roseville was one of two cities selected <br />to receive the award. Staff and elected officials will travel to the LMC annual <br />conference in Duluth on June 22 to receive the award. <br />• Staff helped organize outreach and education relating to "Less Mow May," printing <br />100 yard signs for participating residents. All 100 yard signs were claimed, with <br />several residents on awaitlistfor unclaimed signs. <br />• Staff attended local advocacy group Resilient Roseville's Sustainability Open House <br />on May 6. Many residents were in attendance to learn more about the City's <br />sustainability initiatives and to discuss what they were working on relating to <br />sustainability and climate change. <br />• Staff attended the national "Getting to Zero" conference in Minneapolis on May 10 <br />and 11 to network and learn strategies about increasing commercial and residential <br />energy efficiency. <br />• Staff will be working with the University of Minnesota's Institute on Environment <br />Sustainability Corps program during the summer with a part-time Sustainability Intern <br />starting on June 5. <br />Major Maintenance Activities: <br />• Street and Storm <br />o Finished repairs of mailboxes and plow damage. <br />o Spring sweep was completed May 2. <br />o Centerline striping completed by Warning Lites. <br />o Completed 10 of 20 water break patches. Other 10 water break are prepped <br />for curb and sidewalk. <br />o Ongoing Compost site maintenance. Friday deliveries to residents started <br />May 5. <br />o Streetscape areas prepped for season. Campus irrigation activated. <br />o Ongoing storm sewer maintenance, sign work, and asphalt patching for streets <br />and pathways. <br />Water and Sanitary Sewer <br />o Water Tower repairs and painting. <br />o One repair on our water main system for the month of May. <br />o Repaired 4 Hydrants since the beginning of May <br />o Replaced bad 12" valve on Fairview Ave that feeds Rosedale Commons. <br />o Replaced A/C unit at Booster station (damaged by fallen tree). <br />o Resumed jetting of 2022 season. <br />o Roseville City Hall Sign (Co Rd C and Lexington) cleaned. <br />o Job posting is out for Utilities Worker II. <br />o Located City -owned utilities for Gopher State One Call locate requests. <br />o Made weekly site visits to all lift stations. <br />o Continued replacing water meters and MIUs. <br />o Collected water samples for bacteriological and disinfection byproducts. <br />• Page 3 <br />Page 13 of 29 <br />
