Commissioner Baggenstoss added that there have been many Park Dedication proposals that the parcels would have made great parkland acquisitions. Chair Dahlstrom suggested adding the new goal “Explore more ways and opportunities to acquire parkland” under goal header “2. Equity and Engagement”. Commissioner Boulton asked how the city finds out about parcels that are for sale. Staff confirmed that the city learns about available parcels when they are listed. Commissioner Beckman requested her name be added to Goal 1.b and the new goal of acquiring parkland. Commissioners Arneson and Brown also requested their name be added to the new goal of acquiring parkland. 5) STAFF REPORT a) DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES i. Discover your Parks 2023 The Discover Your Park (DYP) signup sheet is now available on-line. You can find the dates and times for this year’s DYP events and signup here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B4DAFAA2BA5FE3-discover1 This year the Parks and Recreation Commission will have an activity available to help facilitate engagement with DYP participants. b) Other New or Relevant Communication and Update Items 230 participants skated in 3 ice shows at the Roseville Skating Center. Over 1,500 tickets were sold to the event. The Roseville School of Dance recital took place with many volunteers helping to make the recitals possible. Kite Day in the Park was on Saturday, April 22 (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) at Rosebrook Park. Over 50 kids participated in the event. Earth Day at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center was on April 22 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). This was a very well attended event, inspite of the weather. Summer activities are starting to begin: o Over 200 participants in golf leagues o Adult sand volleyball o Daytime and evening adult softball The Muriel Sahlin Arboretum pathway project is nearing completion. This project was paid for by the Central Park Foundation. Arbor Month Tree Planting volunteer event on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Flower planting along Lexington in Central Park on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The citywide garage sale will be June 1, 2023-June 3, 2023. The 2023 map will be available beginning May 27 at City Hall & on the city website. Tree Trust is partnering with the City of Roseville to provide 300 trees to Roseville property owners. The trees must be planted on private property and will be awarded via a lottery. Sign-up to be entered into the lottery at: Treecovery. 5
