Roseville Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
DATE: June 27, 2023
ITEM: 5.a.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Gold Leaf and High -Impact Climate Action — Preliminary Assessment
Background
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) launched a pilot program which focuses on
pathways for communities to take local climate action through the GreenStep program. There
are 44 high priority, high impact climate actions in the Gold Leaf program under the categories
of Climate Mitigation, Climate Planning, Climate Adaptation, and Community Connectedness
for Minnesota's changing climate. Roseville was selected as one of the pilot communities in
December of 2022. Roseville has been working towards several different initiatives under this
Gold Leaf program. One of the initiatives was to look at our City -owned properties and
determine how energy efficient they are.
Staff is currently working with American Building Maintenance (ABM), who has specialty
resources available to assess Roseville's buildings and energy infrastructure and help
determine and prioritize energy improvements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
ABM completed a high-level assessment of Rossville's City Hall campus and found several
improvements that can be made to reduce our impact on climate change and save the City
money by operating with more efficient equipment.
Recommendation
Receive presentation from AMB staff, and ask questions and provide feedback.
Attachments
1.
