REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:July 10, 2023 <br />Item No.:10.g <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve the renewal of a short term rental license for 257 South McCarrons <br />Blvd W <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 Chapter 909 of City Code requires the licensing of non-owner occupied short term rentals of dwelling <br />3 units, subject to certain exemptions. On February 13, 2023 the City Council adopted amendments to <br />4 Chapter 909, which stopped the issuance of any new short term rental licenses but allowed renewals <br />5 of previously approved licenses. The original short term rental license for 257 South McCarrons <br />6 Boulevard West was issued on July 13, 2021. On May 25, 2023, an application for renewal of the <br />7 shortterm rental licensewas submittedby the property owner. The property is a fivebedroom, single <br />8 family home. The property owner has certified and attested to the requirement of lodging tax payment, <br />9 as well as, the maximum occupancy of four or less unrelated adults or one family.The subject <br />10 property’scurrent short term rental licenseis valid through July14, 2023. There have been no nuisance <br />11 or property maintenance violations since the property received their initial short term rental license. <br />12 Shortterm rentals licenses include the requirement of minimum stays based on on-season (10 days) <br />13 and off-season (7 days) times of the year. <br />14 Upon renewal,the license will be valid for 365 days from the expiration date of the current license.A <br />15 current copy of the license must be posted in the rental unit, along with current copies of City Code <br />16 Sections 405, 407 and 602. A draft of the license is provided as Attachment B. <br />17 The applicant has supplied all required license information and paid the license fee of $515. In <br />18 accordance with Section 909.03, the process for licensure is outlined in Chapter 301, which requires <br />19 presentation to the City Council. Based upon the requirements outlined in ordinance, the property <br />20 owner is entitled to the license. <br />21 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />22 Licensing required by Section 909, effective as of February 8, 2021. <br />23 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />24 The correct fees were paid to the City at the time of application submittal. <br />25 R ACIAL E QUITY I MPACT S UMMARY <br />26 Staff has not identified any racial equity impacts related to this action. <br />Page 1of 2 <br /> <br />
