September 10, 1985
TO: Jim Andre
FROM: Ron Moorse
SUBJECT: SEPTEMBER 5, 1985 MEETING RE PAVILION PLACE LANDSCAPING
cc: Howard Dahlgren
David Drown
The following is a summary of a meeting held between the Pavilion
Place developer and the residents of Fry Street, and the area
east of the Pavilion Place development. The purpose of the
meeting was to discuss landscaping on the east side of the
building.
The major complaint of the residents was that the Council had
approved the developer's revised proposal (deleting the parking
ramp and one story of the building) without advising the
neighbors that the berm on the east side of the building had also
been deleted and replaced by a ten foot deep drainage swale,
making it very difficult to provide adequate screening.
The major concern of the residents was to get adequate screening
on the east side of the building. The agreed upon solution was
as follows:
A. Change the landscape plan to include only an uninterrupted
line of evergreens along the entire east side of the
building.
B. Widen the flat planting area adjacent to Fry Street, so that
the trees are not planted down the slope of the swale.
C. Provide some sort of a berm on the east side of the swale, if
that is possible.
The developer indicated he would provide a screen of evergreens,
and a wider planting area. He indicated he did not think it
would be possible to provide a berm.
