Although the structure was installed, it was placed such
that no water drains to it.
To remedy this situation, you should remove the existing catch basin and
"install a new one in the new curb. The driveway entrance and south end
of the parking lot should be graded so that water drains to the new
structure. Your engineer should be sure to specify a casting that has
sufficient inlet capacity to allow all the water flowing from your lot
to enter it. It appears that the grate your contractor installed
does not have sufficient capacity to handle the expected water. The
city engineering department designs such grates to handle a 10 year
storm.
Please take any actions necessary to correct this problem. Contact me
at 490-2221 if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincere-y,
•
Karl P.
