0
ti
April 5, 1984
Roseville Planning Comm.
and
Roseville City Council
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, Mn. 55113
As residents of this area for almost six years, we are strongly opposed
to the locating of an eating establishment with liquor license on the "Polar
Foods" property. The spot is an inappropriate one, not only because of the
additional traffic it would genera6e on Oakcrest, but also because of its close
proximity to a well -used playground and park area.
T.f there isr . one on the books now, the Planning Commission should re-
commend, and the-ouncil should adopt,an ordinance that would prohibit a liquor
establishment from being located within a certain distance from parks, play-
grounds, churches and schools. There is precedent for this type of ordinance
in other communities.
We would also like to see a new traffic study of Oakcrest to determine
the present volume of traffic. There are times when it is difficult to get
to Snelling because of traffic exiting from the Knights of Columbus on Bingo
nights. When you add that to the traffic generated by the H salth Spa, Rac-
quetball Club and summer baseball games at the park, it becomes a serious
problem for a residential area. Legs not add to the problem by locating
another traffic generating establishment in the area.
Sincerely,
,s
as We was
Rob Wellems
2550 Charlotte St .
