•
s
The Figures show that with the Fuddruckerts Restaurant the peak hours on
the frontage road will be between noon and 1:00 PM and between 6:00 PM and
7:00 PM. The traffic volumes -on Snelling Avenue are significantly lower
during these time periods.
DIRECTIONAL ORIENTATION OF SITE GENERATED TRIPS
The directional orientation on Snelling Avenue of site generated trips is
expected to be similar to the existing directional orientation of traffic
on the frontage road. There are only two directions of approach to the
sire; either from the south on Snelling Avenue or from the north on
Snelling Avenue. Turning movement counts at the intersection of the fron-
tage road and Snelling Avenue indicate that the current directional orien-
tation of frontage road traffic is approximately 70 percent to the south
and 30 percent to the north.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
The potential traffic impacts of the development are limited primarily to
the frontage where the site has access and at the intersection of the fron-
tage road and Snelling Avenue. Although it Is possible to get to the site
from Fairview Avenue via Oakcrest Avenue this route is not obvious and It
is expected that only local residents who are familiar with the area would
use Oakcrest Avenue. Because the site generated traffic is insignificant
compared to the volumes on Snelling Avenue, once the traffic is on Snelling
Avenue there is no noticeable Impact. Existing traffic volumes on the
frontage road are low enough (approximately 2,700 vehicles a day) that
there would be no traffic -related problems with the access from the site to
the frontage road.
Therefore, the only intersection where potential traffic problems may exist
are at the "T't Intersection of the frontage road with Snelling Avenue.
This intersection is not signalized and there are significant volumes on
Snelling Avenue. Outbound traffic on the frontage road can either turn
right to go south on Snelling Avenue (which is about 70 percent of the out-
bound traffic) or make a left turn to go north on Snelling Avenue (about 30
percent of the outbound traffic). Inbound traffic will either make a right
turn from southbound Snelling Avenue or a left turn from northbound
Snelling Avenue. There is currently a left turn lane on northbound
Snelling Avenue which allows left turns Into the frontage road to stop
without affecting thru traffic on northbound Snelling Avenue. The'right-
turn in from southbound Snelling also does not have any major affect on
thru traffic because the eight foot paved shoulder on Snelling Avenue Is
often used as a right -turn lane.
Nort) of this Intersection there Is signalized intersection at County Road
C and Snelling Avenue. South of the intersection on Snelling Avenue there
Is an interchange at County Road B2 and at TH 36. The next signalized
intersection to the south on Snelling Avenue IS at County Road B.
