approach the intersection it is difficult to judge when an acceptable gap <br />in traffic is available and right -turns take much longer to enter Snelling <br />Avenue when a gap is available. <br />The other problem which exists at this intersection is in the winter when <br />snow in the median between the frontage road and Snelling Avenue blocks the <br />view of Snelling Avenue from the frontage road so that it is extremely dif- <br />ficult to turn onto Snelling Avenue. <br />The site plan shown in Figure 6 addresses both of these problems. By <br />swinging the frontage road out at the intersection it is possible to pro- <br />vide vehicles a right angle approach to Snelling Avenue and it opens up a <br />larger area for snow storage so that adequate sight distances can be main- <br />tained in the winter. The site developer would dedicate the required <br />right-of-way to allow the proposed improvement on the frontage road. <br />13 <br />
