Page 8 - #120-11872
Basement walls should be damp -proofed. We recommend using a granular back -
fill with less than 10% passing the #200 sieve. Drain tile should be in-
stalled at the base of the basement wall. The walls can be designed based
on an equivalent fluid weight of 45 pounds per cubic foot (at -rest pressure).
Based on the borings, the attached tabulation indicates the minimum depth
of excavation required to remove the fill, topsoil or weaker soils.
Boring
Surface
Recommended
Excavation
Number
Elevation
Depth (ft)
Elevation (ft)
1
924.0
10
914.0
2
921.5
15
906.5
3
925.9
3
922.9
4
942.4
4
938.4
5
969.4
12
967.9
6
970.9
1
969.9
7
969.4
6
963.4
8
941.0
2
939.0
9
935.1
2
933.1
10
927.2
11
916.2
11
927.4
2
925.4
12
93u.6
15
915.6
13
929.4
82
920.9
1.4
932.5
1
931.5
15
933.0
1
932.0
16
935.8
2
933.8
It should be noted that the soil conditions can and will vary between boring
locations. The depths of excavation should be verified at the time of con-
struction by visual observation by a soils engineer. We als recommend that
density tests be taken as the fill is placed to.document that proper compac-
tion is being obtained.
- SOIL exPLORation
,Y
