Page 10 - #120-11872
We recommend a mirimum bituminous pavement section in automobile areas con-
sist of 2" of plant mix bituminous pavement over 7" of aggregate base. For
areas that will be subjected to truck traffic, we recommend that a minimum
pavement design consist of 32" of plant mix bituminous pavement over 9" of
aggregate base. These pavement designs are based on a stable subgrade'-that
would be capable of passing test rolling.
The bituminous pavement should consist of 2" of plant mix bituminous wearing
course (2341) in the automobile areas and 12" of plant mix bituminous surf ac-
ing (2341) over 2" of plant mix bituminous binder (2331) in the truck areas.
The aggregate base should conform to Mn/DOT Specification 3138 using Class
5 aggregate.
It should be noted that the cohesive soils may be subject to softening from
excess moisture. Therefore, it is imperative that good drainage be provided.
Observation and. Testing During Construction
We suggest the foundation excavations be observed by a soils engineer prior
to placing foundations or engineered fill. Also, the subgrade under the
floors and paved areas should be observed by a soils engineer. Fill required
below foundations, floors or paved areas should be checked by field density
tests as it is placed.
5®IL eXPLORation
ccxTvzany
