Development Services Group
ADIVISION OF THE CENTER COMPANIES
07 September 1989
Mr. Craig A. Waldron
Director of Community Development
City of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN 55113
Dear Mr. Waldron:
The intent of this letter Is to enlist .your help In our effort to improve the traffic
situation at the Fairview Avenue entrance to the Rosedale Shopping Center.
As you are aware, the Rosedale Shopping Center Is currently undergoing a large
expansion/ re nova tion. Part of the renovation involves a proposal to Improve
Ingress/egress through the Fairview Avenue entrance to the Center. I'lils would
have been accomplished by;
1. Moving the entrance Itself 150 feet north.
2. Widening Fairview Avenue by one lane exclusively for
Rosedale.
3. Widening the westbound TH 36 exit ramp by one lane
exclusively for Rosedale.
During our review of this proposal with Ramsey County, I INt)OT and the City of
Roseville, it became apparent that more had to be done. It wits felt that tine flow
of traffic could be Impeded by motorists waiting to snake a left hand turn onto the
west Dayton's parking lot off of the southtmiind ring road. in addition, I\INDOT
objected to an exclusive lane for a private development.
In response to these objections, we are proposing that the southlx)und ring road be
widened to three lanes instead of two. 'I'lils should Fellow traffle to flow even if
motorists do stop to snake the left hand turn. Further, we would like to propose
that the entry lane from Fairview Avenue be off lelally named Rosedale Drive.
111 Tltr! Avcnu4' «uit,, Surtc h {), It9u u u .+ ic;In.
