u
ROSEVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION Page# 2
Wednesday, January 4, 1989
Belair Builders request for rezoning from I-1 to I-2, special use
permits for a planned unit development, truck rental agency,
commercial truck wash, and variance to parking setback, curbing,
fence height requirements at 2211 County Road C2.
Berry moved, Maschka seconded to continue consideration of this
item to February 1, 1989.
Roll Call:
Planning 1874
Ayes: Maschka, Moeller, DeBenedet, Berry,
Goedeke, Stokes, Johnson
Nays: None.
Ordinance revision concerning outside merchandising and display.
Presentation
Dahlgren summarized the existing ordinance requirements, the
research that City staff has done and highlighted a proposed
ordinance amendment. Dahlgren stated a concern about the
fairness of singling out only hardware and service stations when
other similar type uses may also have been needed for outside
merchandising and display.
DeBenedet asked why the provision was in the new ordinance
allowing a single piece of equipment to be displayed away from
the building. Jopke responded that he believed that this was
based on a request by a hardware store which occasionally
displays a piece of equipment in such a manner.
Maschka inquired if the five percent limitation should be
increased.
Berry questioned what the definition of a service station is and
pointed out that the definition might only include stations that
offer service and repair and not the self service convenience
store with gas pumps.
Dahlgren pointed out that in Roseville, service stations are
regulated by special use permit while the food sales part of the
uses are permitted under the current ordinance.
DeBenedet pointed out that the current service station definition
in the code covers any kind of use selling gasoline or fuel.
DeBenedet added that hardware store is not defined, however.
