October 2, 1988
Finn -Daniels, Inc.
4175 Lovell Road,;
Lexington, MN 55014
Attn: Mark Finnemann
Dear Mr. Finnemann,
I have been requested to comment and review on wall construction ad-
jacent to ponding area of car wash in Roseville.
Conditions are as follows:
I. Ponding area is designed for 100 year duration with overflow
pipe.
2. Possible water level at foundation level. This condition to be..
checked with soil engineer for evaluating soil pressure. If
water level is at foundation area pumping will be required. No
freezing or thawing can occur at this elevation.
Wall to be •16" thick with 6" cover of reinfor
quirements are 3". cing. Normal code re-
Retaining walls have soils with high moisture c
cover. ontent and have 3"
Underground water reservoirs have 3" cover.
Rigid insulation should be added to inside wall. Extend 5'0" below
grade. Extend under floor also.
After reviewing and studying conditions it is our opinion that
if thawing and freezing occur. it will -not effect the structural
integrity of -the wall. Proper curing of concrete will control
any possible hairline cracks,a sealant can be sprayed to add
additional protection if desired.
Mayeron Engineering Company
Consulting Engineers
2649 Joppa Ave. So.
Minneapolis, MN 55416
